certifications The Role We're hiring a Staff Accountant to own our full accounts payable process and support our Controller across month end close, cost accounting, and trade spend management. This role is a strong fit for someone who wants broad ownership across both transactional AP work and higher-level accounting responsibility within a food manufacturing environment, working directly alongside the Controller rather than in a large, siloed finance team. What You'll Do Own accounts payable end to end: enter and code vendor bills (roughly 275 per month) in QuickBooks Enterprise, prepare payment batches for approval, maintain vendor records, reconcile vendor statements, and support 1099 preparation at year end. Prepare monthly sales and excise tax returns. Assist with month end close tasks, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Track and report weekly KPIs to support operational and leadership decision making Partner with the Warehouse Manager to finalize weekly inventory counts and confirm resulting adjustments are accurately posted, flagging recurring variance patterns to the Controller for process improvement follow-up. Manage trade spend accruals and tracking across branded and private label business Reconcile distributor chargebacks and discounts against terms and agreements Support cost accounting and standard cost variance tracking across production Maintain supporting schedules (prepaids, fixed assets) and assist with audit and compliance requests Partner with the Controller on process improvement across accounting operations What We're Looking For 2+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on accounts payable; food manufacturing, CPG, or another manufacturing environment strongly preferred Experience with cost accounting and variance analysis Comfort working with trade spend, chargebacks, or deduction management (retail or distributor channel experience a plus) Proficiency in QuickBooks (Enterprise a plus) or similar accounting software; strong Excel skills Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred Why This Role You'll work closely with our Controller and President in a growing, multi-brand manufacturing business, with real exposure to trade spend, cost accounting, and retail channel dynamics that go well beyond a typical generalist Staff Accountant role.
