JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the company by ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. This role partners closely with the Assistant Controller and other departments to maintain the integrity of the general ledger, assist with month-end close, financial reporting, project accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and ongoing process improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with experience in a project-based or professional services environment. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial information, supporting operational decision-making, and helping improve accounting processes as the company continues to grow.
RESPONSIBILITES
Manage the accounts payable process, including processing vendor invoices, verifying approvals, preparing payments, and maintaining vendor records. Support accounts receivable activities, including customer invoicing, payment application, collections, and resolving customer account inquiries. Support job billing and project cost budget tracking. Assist with project and job cost accounting. Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations. Support monthly and year-end closing activities. Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Process and monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable. Assist with customer invoicing and collections. Support payroll processing and payroll tax activities. Prepare and post journal entries. Review account activity and assist with resolving discrepancies. Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation. Work with Project Managers and other departments to resolve accounting and billing questions. Assist with improving accounting processes and procedures. Support other accounting and finance activities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent accounting experience. 2-5 years of accounting experience preferred. Familiarity with GAAP and financial statements. Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable. Experience with reconciliations and month-end close activities. Experience with payroll and payroll tax processing. Project or construction accounting experience is a plus. Experience with job billing, job costing, or project cost budgets is highly preferred. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP or accounting software; NetSuite experience is preferred. What We're Looking For Eager to learn and grow professionally.
