Navigate Accounting Services is growing, and we're looking for an experienced bookkeeper who takes ownership of their work and enjoys solving problems for clients. At its core, this is a bookkeeping position. You'll manage bookkeeping for multiple business clients, including reconciliations, month-end accounting, financial statements, payroll support, and cleanup projects. But we're looking for more than someone who can complete a bookkeeping checklist. We want someone who notices when something doesn't make sense, researches it, asks good questions, and works toward a solution. Someone who is comfortable communicating directly with business owners, visiting client offices when needed, making phone calls, following up on outstanding items, and helping solve the day-to-day accounting issues that come with running a business. You won't be expected to know everything. You will be expected to be resourceful enough to try to find the answer. What You'll Do Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of business clients Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and other balance sheet accounts Complete month-end accounting and prepare accurate financial statements Research discrepancies and unusual transactions Assist with cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping projects Work directly with clients to obtain information and resolve issues Communicate with clients by phone, email, and in person Occasionally work onsite at client offices Help clients with accounting-related administrative needs, including A/R follow-up and other financial processes Answer and respond to incoming Navigate Accounting Services phone calls Learn and troubleshoot the different software systems our clients use Work with our tax team to make sure client books are accurate and ready for tax preparation What We're Looking For Bookkeeping experience is required. This is not an entry-level bookkeeping position.
The right person will have:
Professional bookkeeping or accounting experience Strong QuickBooks Online experience A solid understanding of reconciliations, debits and credits, financial statements, and general accounting principles The ability to research and troubleshoot issues independently Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture Confidence communicating directly with business owners and their employees Professional written and verbal communication skills The ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines A high comfort level with technology and learning new software The ability to work independently while knowing when an issue needs to be escalated A willingness to take ownership of a problem and follow it through to resolution Technology Matters Here Our clients use more than QuickBooks. We're looking for someone who is comfortable learning how different systems work together and isn't intimidated by unfamiliar software. You don't need to know every platform we encounter, but you should be comfortable researching, troubleshooting, and learning new technology. ServiceTitan experience is a strong plus, but is not required. Who Will Thrive Here You'll probably enjoy this position if you're the person who sees a problem and thinks, "Let me see if I can figure this out." You like having responsibility for your own clients. You don't need every next step spelled out for you. You're comfortable picking up the phone, talking with a client, researching an unfamiliar issue, and bringing possible solutions to the team. You also genuinely enjoy helping small business owners. Sometimes that means preparing a clean set of financial statements. Other times it means figuring out why something isn't working, answering an email, making a phone call, or helping a client improve a process. Opportunity to Grow This position can grow well beyond bookkeeping. For someone interested in advancing their accounting career, there are opportunities to develop into higher-level accounting, advisory, and CFO services. We're also a year-round tax firm. Candidates who are working toward an Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA designation , or who are interested in gaining tax preparation experience, will have opportunities to expand their skills in that area. You don't need to want to become a CPA or EA to be successful in this role. We are primarily looking for an excellent bookkeeper who wants to keep learning and growing.
