Eel River Transportation and Salvage is a small, family owned and operated business located in Fortuna with a sister company in Arcata. We are looking for a full-time, full charge bookkeeper to join our team.

This role will include:

• Accounts payable (Arcata and Eel River)
• Weekly payroll and payroll taxes (Arcata and Eel River)
• Manage 401k contributions
• Monthly bank reconciliations in Quickbooks (Arcata and Eel River)
• Manage employee insurance benefits (Arcata and Eel River)
• Pay monthly checks to metal recycling customers
• Manage fleet insurance and registration fee's
• Answer phone calls
• Provide back up to the front desk/ truck scales This is a fast-paced environment. Candidate must be comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing duties. We offer full medical benefits, 401k, one week of sick pay and after one year of employment one week of vacation. Rate of pay is based on experience. • Proficiency in QuickBooks
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial concepts
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliation and journal entries
• Knowledge of accounting software and general ledger reconciliation
• Ability to perform debits & credits accurately
• Previous experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Familiarity with financial report writing and account reconciliation
