Please apply at: https://www.edjoin.org/Home/JobPosting/2258299 Summary of Position Under the direct supervision of the Director of Fiscal Services processes records, updates and reconciles site and/or district financial information; responds to concerns and issues within assigned area of accounts receivable/accounts payable and provides information, instruction, and support to employees and vendors; maintains confidential records; ensures compliance with mandated requirements. performs financial functions involving complex and technical accounting and record keeping; assists in the formulation, analysis and execution of the annual budget and financial accounting work; identifies budget variances and recommends appropriate actions to comply with fiscal requirements and budget guidelines; analyzes costs of programs and services; and provides analytical information as required by administrative and program personnel and/or regulatory agencies; other related duties as assigned. Duties Duties of the Accounting Specialist shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
Compiles reports, assembles, tabulates, and verifies financial and statistical data monthly, quarterly or annually as required.
Advises administrative staff of the implications of funding alternatives, proposed program adjustments for the purpose of providing assistance to administration in identifying and resolving budget variances and other financial issues.
Assists in the development and management of site or departmental annual budget utilizing proper budgeting and accounting procedures.
Prepares budgetary transfers and/or journal entries as necessary for purchasing and balancing the site or departmental budget.
Maintains comprehensive files containing pertinent historical data as required.
Processes, reviews, and compares purchase orders to invoices, verifies correct amount and prepares for payment.
Maintains cash accounts, receipts, and accounts receivable records; reconciles bank statements; may make bank deposits.
Completes month and year-end reports for state and federal reimbursements.
Assists in fiscal and calendar year end closing process.
Assists in annual audit of all accounts process, provides supporting documentation and/or information on internal process for audit.
Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Computer, office equipment, technology, and basic software programs
Modern office methods and practices including filing systems, letter and report writing, and standard office equipment operation, correspondence, standard English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation

Perform and coordinate complex office, clerical work involving independent judgment and requiring accuracy and speed

Establish and maintain supportive cooperative relations with all school personnel, parents, and students
Computer skills especially with Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, and the Internet. Other program knowledge in finance software for budget, human resources or payroll. Student Identifier Databases, web based substitute tracking systems, and employee information databases are a plus. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Junior college or university or business school coursework in accounting preferred.
Minimum of one year clerical/accounting experience involving financial record keeping preferred
Valid California driver's license and evidence of insurability at the standard rate is required and must be maintained
