Job Description

Bookkeeper Reports to:
General Manager Purpose:
The Bookkeeper will work to provide timely and accurate financial information and analysis to the General Manager, Man. As well as to ensure fiscally responsible operations and support achievement of co-op objectives.

Non-Exempt Hours:
20 - 40 hours per week
Rate:
$20.61 - $29.88 per hour
Primary Responsibilities :
Prepare timely, accurate financial statements; coordinate with other departments as needed Ensure that all monthly, quarterly, and yearly taxes are paid on time: business, corporate, payroll, federal withholding Ensure invoice and credit process accuracy Ensure accuracy and consistency in GL data and descriptions Post daily business reports in Quickbooks Adjusting entries for Payroll, PTO accruals, and Labor Distribution. Check invoices for accurate department coding. Pay verified bills. Maintain good credit. Monitor cash flow status. Schedule large payments, in coordination with the General Manager. Research and correct problem accounts. Conduct and oversee maintenance of invoice files. Prepare monthly statements for accounts receivable; follow up as needed to ensure payment. Record and work to collect bad checks with the support of the General Manager as needed. Record other accounts receivable and follow up as needed to ensure payment. Accurately record equity payments and refunds in the books. Reconcile member equity with the books, member database and POS (monthly) Ensure that deposits in the bank are reconciled with the books. Monitor cash accounts (CD's), Money Market, Checking, etc. Provide monthly bank reconciliations to the General Manager within 21 days after the first of the month. Communicate respectfully, openly and honestly. Listen attentively to others, ask questions, and remain open to other viewpoints. Demonstrate empathic listening skills. Seek support or clarification from supervisor needed to prioritize competing time commitments. Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner.
Additional General Responsibilities:
Know what makes Co-ops unique and how to explain/promote Fiddleheads membership. Take the initiative to increase your own product knowledge. Develop working knowledge of where products are in the store and/or where to locate information about products. Willingness to learn about and take on new responsibilities. Orient and be helpful to new employees. Set a positive example for co-workers. Maintain good working relations with other Fiddleheads staff. Encourage and demonstrate good team behaviors. Attend required staff meetings and staff training sessions. Follow storewide policies & procedures and the expectations outlined in the Employee Handbook. Provide customer service in other areas of the store as needed. Accept other tasks as assigned by supervisorPerform task assigned by the GM as needed
Qualifications:
Preferably Accounting degree or a minimum of 1 year relevant job experience in development of strong use of accounting principles/financial analyses. Ability to interpret transactions' impact on financial representation. Strong reconciliation skills. Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. High performance ability in QuickBooks, and practice in appropriate accounting protocol. Ability to work in a team environment to achieve departmental/organizational goals. Good time management and prioritizing skills. Keen on accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail. Proficient Excel and worksheet skills.
Pay:
$20.61 - $29.88 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 40.0 per week
