Job Description

Overview We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to join our organization, dedicated to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting our accounting functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in various accounting systems and software, including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial software platforms. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP, performing bank and account reconciliations, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. The successful applicant will contribute to the integrity of our financial data and assist in streamlining bookkeeping processes across diverse organizational contexts, including non-profit and corporate environments. Duties Manage daily bookkeeping activities including data entry of journal entries, debits & credits, and account analysis to ensure precise financial records. Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers regularly to maintain accuracy. Process payroll transactions accurately while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards. Handle accounts payable by verifying invoices, entering bills into accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop or Sage, and issuing payments. Manage accounts receivable by invoicing clients, tracking outstanding balances, and following up on overdue accounts. Prepare financial reports by compiling data from various accounting systems; write clear summaries for management review. Perform month-end closing procedures including balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to support audit readiness. Maintain comprehensive documentation of all bookkeeping activities in accordance with accounting standards. Assist with technical accounting tasks involving GAAP compliance, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation. Support process improvements for efficiency in bookkeeping workflows using spreadsheets or specialized financial software. Requirements Minimum of two years' experience in bookkeeping or related accounting roles within corporate or non-profit organizations. Proficiency with popular accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Desktop), Xero, Sage, and other financial systems. Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial concepts, and double entry bookkeeping practices. Experience with payroll processing, account reconciliation (bank and general ledger), and journal entries. Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy across all financial data. Ability to interpret financial statements and perform account analysis confidently. Familiarity with spreadsheets for data management and reporting purposes. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external auditors.
