JOB OVERVIEW
Thinkwell Makerspace Innovations is seeking a Nonprofit Bookkeeper to support the financial operations and compliance needs of a growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit makerspace. This role focuses on bookkeeping, payroll coordination, and financial reporting using QuickBooks. This is a contractor engagement, not an employee role.
TIME COMMITMENT
Services are expected to require variable hours based on agreed-upon deliverables and deadlines. During the initial onboarding and stabilization period, services may require a higher level of effort. After systems and routines are established, services are expected to average approximately 2-4 hours per week, with actual time varying month to month. This engagement is structured around outcomes and deliverables, not fixed weekly hours.
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
The posted rate is $40
- 55 per hour, depending on experience. We are equally open to structuring this engagement as a fixed monthly retainer against defined monthly deliverables rather than hourly billing, which many independent bookkeepers prefer. Based on the expected ongoing volume, a retainer would fall in the range of roughly $400
- 850 per month once systems are stable.
If you work on a retainer basis, tell us your monthly rate for the scope described below. The initial cleanup and onboarding period will be scoped and billed separately from any ongoing retainer, either hourly or as a one-time project fee. We do not expect setup and cleanup work to be absorbed into an ongoing monthly fee.
