Accounting Assistant/Bookkeeper Optical Filters is a leader in the design and manufacture of display screen products including EMI-shielded windows, optical laminating, display filters and other specialist glass and polycarbonate screens. Based in Meadville, PA for over 20 years, this growing SME supplies into the aerospace, commercial instrumentation and defense and security markets. Optical Filters is seeking a bookkeeper to manage the daily accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various financial processes. Reporting directly to the CEO, with the support of a part-time CFO, this role is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to make this role their own Full-time , 40 hours per week

Remuneration:
Commensurate with experience and qualifications Responsibilities Maintain and update financial records using accounting software in a fully integrated ERP system Conduct account reconciliation activities including debits & credits and verify account balances through detailed review and documentation. Making journal entries as needed for payroll and banking reconciliation. Undertake accounts payable and receivable functions including verifying invoices, printing checks, processing payments, and managing collections as needed. Undertake banking functions, including deposits, bank reconciliations, ACH and check processing, and related financial documentation. Assist with payroll and 401K processing Research and resolve accounting discrepancies while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Aid in compliance with controls by maintaining proper documentation and supporting audit procedures. Assist with month-end closing procedures, including balance sheet reconciliation and preparing reports for management review. Ensure compliance with company practices Experience 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or office administration experience preferred. Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles Proficient knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation Familiarity with payroll and 401K processing, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger management Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to perform reconciliation consistently Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and support organizational financial goals Qualifications Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word etc.)
