We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to join a finance team on a contract basis. This onsite opportunity supports day-to-day accounting operations and is expected to run for approximately 4 to 6 weeks, with potential for extension. The role is well suited for someone who can manage payment processing, reconciliations, and financial record updates in a busy environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Responsibilities:
Reconcile cash activity across several bank accounts and financial institutions to ensure records remain accurate and current.
Apply incoming customer payments to the correct accounts and review receipts carefully for completeness and accuracy.
Examine invoices for supporting documentation and required approvals before releasing them for payment.
Process vendor disbursements, organize payment timing according to agreed terms, and assist with scheduled check runs.
Compare vendor statements against internal records, investigate differences, and resolve outstanding issues promptly.
Review corporate credit card transactions and employee expense submissions to confirm proper coding and policy compliance.
Maintain supplier information in accounting records and update vendor details as changes occur.
Respond to vendor questions in a clear and courteous manner and provide timely follow-up on payment or account matters.
Assign expenses to the appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers while supporting other finance-related tasks as needed.
High school diploma required; coursework or a degree in business or accounting is preferred.
1-3 years of experience handling cash reconciliations or similar accounting support work in a fast-paced setting.
Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, and data entry.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with experience using Windows-based systems.
Familiarity with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work under deadline pressure.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
