Accounting Specialist DTS North Chesterfield, VA Job Details Full-time From $60,000 a year 2 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Paid sick time Qualifications Accounting systems Accounts payable Financial analysis Bachelor's degree Attention to detail GAAP Full Job Description Accounting Specialist Darbonnier Tactical Supply (DTS LLC) Full-Time Salary Starting at $60,000 per year Position Overview Darbonnier Tactical Supply (DTS) is seeking an experienced Account Specialist to support the company's accounting operations and financial reporting. This position requires a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to understand how transactions flow through an ERP system and impact the general ledger and financial statements. DTS operates in a fast-paced environment supporting government customers, distribution and inventory activity, drop-ship transactions, and construction operations. The ideal candidate will be a strong accountant who can independently analyze financial activity, research discrepancies, and ensure financial information is accurate, reconciled, and properly supported. Key Responsibilities
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Perform general ledger accounting and assist with AR/AP, inventory, cost of goods sold, fixed assets, and revenue/expense cut-off.
  • Ensure financial reports and supporting schedules accurately reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Research discrepancies, identify underlying accounting or transaction issues, and assist with corrective solutions.
  • Utilize SAP to review transaction flow and understand general ledger and financial statement impact.
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation.
  • Support outside CPAs, auditors, banks, bonding/surety providers, and other third parties as needed.
  • Assist with tax filings, audits, bonding requirements, and other financial reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting documentation, reconciliations, and workpapers.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance, Operations, leadership, and other departments to support accurate financial reporting. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-basis accounting.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close.
  • Experience with accounts receivable/payable, inventory, and cost of goods sold.
  • ERP experience required; SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and reconcile financial data.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and follow-through.
  • Ability to independently research discrepancies and resolve accounting issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with government contracting distribution, construction accounting, and/or external audit support is a plus.
  • CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus but not required.

We are seeking a strong accountant who also understands SAP, someone who understands the accounting behind transactions, can identify discrepancies, and takes the initiative to ensure reports and supporting schedules accurately reconcile to the general ledger. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of their work while collaborating with a growing team.
