Dental Insurance and Billing Coordinator Signal Tree Family Dental Full-Time |
Compensation:
[$2-$26 per hour] Signal Tree Family Dental is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Dental Insurance and Billing Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential to the financial health of our practice and the experience of our patients. We are looking for someone who understands dental insurance, communicates clearly, follows through consistently, and takes pride in accurate and timely work. The Role The Insurance and Billing Coordinator will manage insurance claims, payment posting, account follow-up, billing, and patient financial communication. This person will work closely with the front-office team, clinical team, and leadership to ensure that treatment is billed correctly and payments are collected in a timely manner. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, persistent, professional, and comfortable communicating with both insurance companies and patients. Key Responsibilities Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefit information Enter and maintain accurate insurance-plan information Prepare, review, and submit dental insurance claims Confirm that claims include accurate procedure codes, documentation, narratives, and attachments Submit supporting records such as radiographs, periodontal charting, and clinical notes Track outstanding claims and follow up with insurance companies Review and resolve rejected, denied, or underpaid claims Prepare and submit claim appeals when appropriate Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient payments accurately Review insurance explanations of benefits for accuracy Manage insurance aging and accounts-receivable reports Identify unpaid or delayed claims and document follow-up activity Send patient statements and follow up on outstanding balances Help patients understand insurance estimates, benefits, limitations, and financial responsibility Coordinate with the clinical team to obtain missing documentation Review patient accounts for accuracy before and after treatment Assist with insurance credentialing and fee-schedule updates as assigned Maintain clear and complete account notes Protect patient privacy and financial information Support the front-office team during busy periods as needed Who We Are Looking For Our ideal candidate: Has previous dental insurance and billing experience; knowledge of OpenDental is a plus Understands dental terminology, procedure codes, claims, and explanations of benefits Is comfortable working aging reports and following claims through resolution Communicates financial information clearly and compassionately Is accurate and attentive to detail Takes ownership of responsibilities and follows through Can prioritize tasks and manage deadlines Is persistent without becoming confrontational Works well independently and as part of a team Maintains professionalism when handling difficult insurance or account situations Has experience with dental practice-management software; Open Dental experience is a plus Qualifications 2+ years of dental insurance or billing experience preferred Knowledge of CDT codes and common dental insurance processes Experience submitting claims and required attachments electronically Experience with payment posting, aging reports, denials, and appeals Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills Experience with Open Dental, DentalXChange, or similar systems is a plus What We Offer Competitive compensation Full-time schedule: Paid time off: Paid holidays: Medical benefits: Dental benefits Retirement plan: Bonus or incentive opportunities: Continuing education and professional-development opportunities A welcoming, team-focused work environment To Apply Please submit your résumé along with a brief message describing your dental insurance and billing experience and why you would be a strong addition to Signal Tree Family Dental.
