Claims Adjuster - Full-Time, Experienced $30+/hr

Job Description

Claims Adjuster Marine Industry $32/hr
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Primary Purpose for Claims Adjuster Claims Adjusters are responsible for investigating incidents and claims, analyzing risk issues inherent therein, participating in the litigation process with the assistance of in-house and outside counsel, as well as mediating and resolving claims at various times in the process. Claims may involve personal injury/illnesses, property damage, cargo damage and other types of claims. Essential Responsibilities for Claims Adjuster
  • Investigate and manage incidents and events resulting from marine group operations to identify proximate cause and access potential liability on the part of the organization.
  • Interface with vessel associates, operations managers, customer service representatives, contractors, insurance carriers, medical providers, in-house and outside counsel, and others, as required, in order to investigate and effectively process claims, as well as manage liability exposure.
  • Consult with claimants and medical providers to obtain pertinent medical information to manage claims.
  • Maintain accurate records and notes on all aspects of claims that fall within a managers geographic area of responsibility, such as take statements, obtain medical records, hire surveyors, and other relevant tasks.
  • Establish reserves, monitor expenditures and approve payment of necessary claim related expenses.
  • Partner with in-house and outside counsel to formulate litigation strategy and achieve favorable results for the organization.
  • Initiate and monitor various requested Coast Guard documentation (such as 2692 forms).
  • Maintain claim files and system records.
  • Support department activities with regular and prompt attendance. Knowledge & Skills for Claims Adjuster
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques
  • Understanding of litigation process
Education & Experience Preferences/Requirements Claims Adjuster Degree Required:
High School Diploma /
GED Years of Experience Required:
2-3 Working Environment / Conditions Claims Adjuster
  • Some lifting, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces and sitting is required.
Must be able to travel on short notice. On-call 24 hours/day and weekends in a rotating schedule, including holidays.
