CODE COMPLIANCE OFFICER TOWN OF PITTSFIELD, N.H. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Town of Pittsfield is seeking a qualified, professional, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time Code Compliance Officer, approximately 15-20 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for zoning administration, code compliance, and building inspection duties in accordance with the New Hampshire State Building Code, applicable New Hampshire statutes, and the Town's ordinances, regulations, and policies. Duties include, but are not limited to: Administering and enforcing the Town's zoning, land-use, building, and code compliance regulations. Issuing building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing permits, as applicable. Conducting inspections and reviewing plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Investigating complaints and alleged violations and issuing notices of violation when appropriate. Providing guidance to residents, property owners, contractors, and developers regarding permits, codes, and Town requirements. Maintaining accurate records of permits, inspections, complaints, and enforcement actions. Preparing reports and correspondence and attending Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Select Board, and other meetings as needed. Working cooperatively with Town departments, boards, officials, and State agencies. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. ICC certification appropriate to the position, or ability to obtain required certification. Experience in building inspection, code enforcement, zoning administration, construction, or a related field. Knowledge of the New Hampshire State Building Code and New Hampshire zoning and land-use requirements. Ability to interpret plans, codes, ordinances, and regulations and apply them consistently and impartially. Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and interact professionally with the public, contractors, Town officials, and State officials. Computer proficiency and ability to learn permitting and inspection software. Valid New Hampshire driver's license. Compensation & Benefits Part-time position, approximately 15-20 hours per week. Competitive hourly compensation based on qualifications and experience. Flexible schedule based on operational needs, including occasional evening meetings.
