Job Description

Director, Specialized Accounting Location:
Remote (U.S.) Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking a Director, Specialized Accounting to lead key accounting functions with a focus on grant accounting, compliance, specialized fund accounting, and financial projects . This role will partner closely with Finance, Program, and Lending teams to ensure accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and compliance with regulatory and funder requirements.
Responsibilities:
Lead grant accounting, revenue recognition, reporting, and compliance activities Manage restricted fund accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules Support federal grant reporting and Single Audit requirements Oversee specialized fund accounting, including reconciliations, accruals, financial statements, and tax reporting Partner with external auditors and advisors on audits and specialized accounting matters Contribute to monthly/quarterly close and financial reporting Lead process improvement, automation, and financial systems initiatives Serve as a key accounting partner across Finance and other departments
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP, restricted fund accounting, cost allocation, and audit support Experience with federal grant compliance and reporting requirements Strong Excel and accounting systems experience Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote, cross-functional environment Why Consider This Opportunity? $120,000-$145,000 salary Fully remote within the U.S. Mission-driven organization Comprehensive benefits package Opportunity to lead specialized accounting initiatives and process improvement EB-4229162373
