Director of Accounting and Operations

Job Description

An established personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced accounting and operations professional to lead the financial and administrative management of the firm and its associated real estate holdings. This is a hands-on, senior-level role for someone who wants ownership over complex, varied work rather than routine bookkeeping. Compensation is commensurate with experience and credentials and is competitive. This is a steady, year-round position without the seasonal overtime demands of public accounting or tax practice.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all firm accounting, including trust/IOLTA compliance, settlement disbursements, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting
  • Manage resolution and tracking of liens, including medical provider liens, subrogation claims, and Medicare/Medicaid liens, working closely with attorneys
  • Direct full-cycle accounting for the firm
  • Assist firm leadership with recruiting, interviewing and onboarding new staff
  • Manage payroll and handle core human resources administration
  • Supervise day-to-day office operations
  • Additional managerial, operational and financial duties of assets as needed Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA or CPA trained a plus)
  • Five years or more of progressive accounting experience; law firm trust accounting or real estate accounting experience a significant plus
