Financial Aid Clerk/Assistant CDE Career Institute•2.5 Paterson, NJ Job Details Full-time $19•$21 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Teamwork High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Working with students Organizational skills Full Job Description About the Role CDE Career Institute is seeking a Financial Aid Clerk/Assistant to support students throughout the financial aid process. This is a student-facing role for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys helping people navigate paperwork that can feel overwhelming. Previous experience with or knowledge of financial aid is preferred. What You'll Do Meet with prospective and enrolled students to explain the financial aid process, requirements, and eligibility, and assist them with completing their financial aid applications Review, organize, and audit student financial aid files for accuracy and completeness Identify missing documentation and follow up with students to obtain outstanding requirements Assist with reviewing FAFSA and financial aid information and communicate next steps to students Guide students through requirements such as the Master Promissory Note (MPN), Entrance Counseling, and other financial aid documentation Maintain accurate and organized student financial aid records Track student financial aid requirements and follow up on outstanding items Communicate with students by phone, email, and in person regarding financial aid requirements and status Provide professional and courteous customer service to students and staff Work closely with the Director of Financial Aid and other departments to ensure students receive timely assistance Maintain confidentiality of all student and financial information What We're Looking For Previous experience in financial aid, student services, or a related administrative role preferred Familiarity with FAFSA, MPN, and Entrance Counseling a plus Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Comfortable working directly with students and explaining requirements clearly Professional written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Proficiency with basic computer applications and student records systems High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree a plus Schedule & Compensation Full-time position Primarily daytime hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM•5:00 PM $19•21 per hour, depending on experience This position is an excellent stepping stone for those passionate about education administration and dedicated to supporting students' financial needs.
