General Summary:
The Financial Aid Associate I, under direction, counsels and provides student financial aid and scholarship information to prospective and currently enrolled students and their families. Assists in facilitating workshops and learns to make presentations on and off campus to groups regarding financial aid and scholarships.
Responsibilities:
Front desk, telephone, and e-mail contact with students. Advises and counsels students, parents, and/or prospective students in solving their educational financial problems through scholarships, loans, grants, employment and financial counseling. Responds and researches answers to questions and counseling. Assists in providing loan and indebtedness counseling. Reviews student files and makes adjustments. Reviews appeals and makes decisions regarding the validity of these appeals. Package students' financial aid awards for fall, spring, and summer Communications, imaging and processing/copying/faxing necessary forms. Track documents. Assists with conducting on and off campus presentations, seminars, and/or workshops for students and professional development training. Assists in planning and executing special events. Maybe responsible for one of the following: communication management, packaging, loans, verification, advising, and/or athletics. Assists with review, revision, and interpretation of complex rules, regulations, procedures and policies. Assists outreach staff with prospective students and in their transition to current students. Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses. Necessary Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Six (6) years of related experience. Computer experience, word processing proficiency. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Eight (8) years of Financial Aid or directly related experience. Proficiency with Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel), Email, Document Imaging. Multi-tasking with varying deadlines, work comfortably with a variety of personalities and skills.
