The Financial Aid Specialist provides standard administrative, technical, and operational duties; including reviewing financial aid information and documentation, organizing and inputting data and information that is used and analyzed by others. This position plays a critical role in the Student Financial Aid (SFA) department and assists with recruitment, student retention, and access to Alamo Colleges. Responsibilities include performing administrative duties and activities that support SFA by maintaining accurate records, resolving financial aid issues, and providing guidance to students and families on available funding sources and eligibility, including grants, loans, work-study programs, and scholarships. This position updates, maintains, reviews and corrects highly sensitive data with the U.S. Department of Education federal sites, and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations through accurate documentation. Able to troubleshoot and solve complex student issues, this includes researching and providing resolutions and conducting financial aid workshops or one-on-one counseling sessions. Willing to support the SFA's operational needs.

Student Financial Services 2222 N. Alamo St. San Antonio, Texas, 78215 United States Outside working hours if other than M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Willing to work at any of the five Alamo Colleges or at the District Office locations and work a few Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM and when needed until 7:00 PM. Job Summary and Description Provides standard administrative, technical, production services or information that supports others, and/or organizes data and information that is used and analyzed by others. Provides analytic and diagnostic services or uses highest level technical skills which noticeably affect work results. Reports to Student Financial Aid and Services within Student Success.

Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience:

Associate's degree or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree. One year of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience :

Bachelor's degree. Two years of full-time directly related experience. Bilingual.
