DEPARTMENT FINANCIAL ANALYST - SENIOR

Job Description

The City of Surprise is a fast-growing community where strong financial leadership is essential to turning plans into reality. As a Financial Analyst - Senior, you'll play a central role in developing and managing department budgets, analyzing complex financial data for the Water Resource Management Department. This role is ideal for someone with strong skills in Excel and Access database management, for purposes of reconciling data from multiple sources and translating complex financial information into clear deliverables. You'll work in a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment where Finance is a strategic partner. SUMMARY Incumbents perform a wide variety of complex and highly responsible professional and administrative management support functions that involve analysis, coordination, monitoring, supervision, and research for all divisions within a department. Incumbents prepare and present budgets, assist in writing operational policies and procedures, manage various fiscal activities, participate in or chair department/Citywide committees, and plan and coordinate special projects. Incumbents may supervise other staff. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field; and five years of professional experience in accounting, contract administration, financial cost analysis, auditing, budget preparation, or a closely related financial/fiscal activity; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
