The Tooling Accounting Analyst is responsible for the accurate accounting, management, and tracking of plant and vendor tooling throughout the asset lifecycle. This role supports the monthly close, prepares management reporting and financial analysis, maintains asset records, and coordinates tooling-related transactions with plants, supplier tooling team, and cross-functional partners. The analyst helps ensure tooling activity is recorded accurately, reconciled timely, and supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with company policies and accounting requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage and track plant and vendor tooling from project approval and asset creation through capitalization, transfer, and disposalPrepare, review, and post month-end journal entries related to tooling assets, additions, transfers, disposals, amortization, and other required adjustmentsPrepare month-end tooling reports, including trend analysis, account rollforwards, variance analysis, and explanations of significant or unusual activityReview and process ARRS project approvals, confirming accounting treatment, project information, and required support before approvalComplete OneStream account reconciliations accurately and on schedule; investigate and resolve reconciling itemsCoordinate supplier tooling invoicing to validate invoice supportProcess Mopar tooling disposals and other tooling asset retirements, ensuring approvals and documentation are complete, and accounting entries are accurateRecord and review tooling asset additions and related capitalization activityCoordinate and process quarterly Canada tooling transfers, including asset validation, transfer support, reconciliations, and follow-up on open itemsMaintain supporting schedules and audit-ready documentation for tooling balances and transactionsIdentify data issues, control gaps, and process improvement opportunities; communicate findings and support timely resolutionRespond to management, audit, tax, and cross-functional requests for tooling accounting information and analysis
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of accounting, finance, fixed asset accounting, or manufacturing finance experienceStrong understanding of accounting principles, month-end close processes, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reportingExperience analyzing financial results, preparing trend analysis, rollforwards, and variance explanationsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and large data set analysisStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring month-end and quarter-end deadlinesStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Supplier organizations
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in fixed asset, tooling, capital project, or manufacturing accountingExperience with asset creations, capitalization, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and amortization processesExperience with SAP, OneStream, and ARRSExperience reviewing and approving tooling asset requests, ARRS projects, and supplier tooling transactionsKnowledge of tooling accounting, supplier tooling processes, and fixed asset lifecycle managementAutomotive or manufacturing industry experience preferredExperience supporting internal and external audits, SOX controls, and compliance requirementsThe Tooling Accounting Analyst is responsible for the accurate accounting, management, and tracking of plant and vendor tooling throughout the asset lifecycle.
