Accounting Manager - Opa Locka, FL Sherwood Avionics and Accessories United States, Florida, Opa Locka Aug 15, 2026 Job Description Sherwood Aviation is a recognized leader in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, offering component Repair & Overhaul, Sales & OEM Distribution, Engineering & Manufacturing services, and Training& Technical Support to customers world-wide is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations of the organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and adherence to applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations affecting financial records and maintenance documentation. This position manages the accounting team, supports financial planning and analysis, ensures regulatory compliance, and provides financial guidance to executive leadership in support of aviation maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO), and manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Requirements Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures.
Prepare account reconciliations and analyze financial results for accuracy and completeness.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
Monitor operating expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Oversee sales and use tax filings, business licenses, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
Coordinate annual financial audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting personnel to support professional development and departmental performance.
Prepare financial reports and analyses for executive management and ownership.
Support strategic business initiatives through financial analysis and reporting.
Ensure accounting practices support compliance with applicable FAA regulations and company quality procedures.
Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Purchasing, and Quality departments to ensure accurate recording of aircraft parts, repair costs, inventory valuation, and maintenance expenditures.
Support FAA inspections, customer audits, and regulatory reviews by providing financial documentation as required.
Assist with contract accounting for commercial, government, or defense aviation customers, when applicable.
Maintain confidentiality of financial information and company records.
