Job Description

Job Summary The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the organization's accounting operations, including accounts payable, fixed assets, month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and compliance activities. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while maintaining adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, and company policies. The Accounting Manager will provide leadership and development to the accounting team, driving accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Working closely with finance, operations, and other cross-functional business partners, this position will analyze financial results, identify trends and risks, and provide actionable insights that support informed business decisions and strategic objectives. The successful candidate will champion process enhancements, leverage technology to improve efficiency and scalability, and play a key role in strengthening financial controls and reporting capabilities across the organization. This position requires strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The position is based in Oak Brook, IL, and will require travel to Saint Joseph, MI, one to two times per month.
Essential Job Functions Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Generate periodic reports for management, providing insights into the company's financial performance.
  • Partner with business leaders to interpret financial results, identify trends, and provide recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
Audit and Compliance:
  • Coordinate and oversee external audits, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required documents.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting processes.
Team Management:
  • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Delegate tasks, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Identify training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and support succession planning initiatives.
Process Improvement:
  • Streamline and improve accounting processes, including accounts payable procedures, to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement best practices in financial management and reporting.
  • Lead system and process enhancement initiatives, leveraging technology and automation to improve operational effectiveness and scalability. Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • A CPA (Certified Public Accountant)/ CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is preferred.
Experience 3 years of progressive financial work experience. 3 years of senior level experience in financial planning and analysis or accounting. 3-5 years of experience with business enterprise systems. 5+ years of experience leveraging Microsoft Office applications. Skills Excellent analytical and project management skills. Advanced Excel financial modeling skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Efficient organization and clear and concise presentation skills. Demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team. Decision making abilities commensurate with job responsibilities. High attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure. Note

Pay:
$105,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
