full-time Controller - Job Costing & Inventory Analysis Position Summary We are seeking a Controller to oversee the company's accounting operations with a strong emphasis on job costing, inventory analysis, and financial reporting . This role partners closely with Operations, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and profitability analysis while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with GAAP. Key Responsibilities Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and journal entries. Lead all aspects of job costing , including monitoring labor, material, overhead, and project costs. Analyze job profitability, cost variances, and production performance, providing actionable recommendations to leadership. Manage inventory accounting , including inventory valuation, standard costing, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reserves. Review inventory transactions to ensure accurate costing and proper financial reporting. Perform inventory reconciliations and investigate inventory discrepancies. Partner with Operations and Production teams to improve costing accuracy and operational efficiency. Prepare financial statements, management reports, and KPIs related to inventory and production performance. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning initiatives. Coordinate external audits and support tax and compliance requirements. Establish and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience , including leadership responsibilities. Strong experience with job costing and inventory accounting in a manufacturing, construction, or project-based environment. Solid understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and financial reporting. Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Plex, or similar). Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query preferred). Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to partner cross-functionally with Operations, Production, and Executive Leadership. Preferred Experience Manufacturing, industrial, construction, or distribution industry experience. Experience with standard costing, WIP (Work-in-Process), and inventory controls. Continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing exposure. Experience managing audits and implementing accounting process improvements.
