Job Description

Join Our Team as Director of Revenue Cycle! Cottage Hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Revenue Cycle to provide strategic and operational leadership across our revenue cycle functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position plays an important role in maximizing reimbursement, improving performance, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific requirements. The Director coordinates revenue cycle activities within Health Information Management (HIM) and Patient Financial Services (PFS) and works collaboratively with Patient Access, Accounting, clinical departments, providers, and other hospital leaders.
What You'll Do:
Provide leadership and oversight for revenue cycle operations, including HIM and Patient Financial Services Monitor key performance indicators including A/R days, denial rates, DNFB, DNFC, medical necessity issues, recoupments, charge reconciliation, accuracy, and late charges Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reimbursement, and overall revenue cycle performance Review and resolve accounts on hold or in DNFB status, partnering with appropriate leaders to address documentation and claim-edit issues Maintain provider enrollment with necessary payers and coordinate enrollment for new providers and long-term locums Chair the Revenue Cycle Action Team (RCAT) and Denial Committee and lead performance improvement initiatives Partner with Accounting on revenue cycle reporting, reconciliation, year-end audit preparation, and Medicare Cost Report information Review and approve Sliding Fee Applications Build strong, collaborative relationships with department leaders, staff, providers, and patients Provide leadership and oversight for revenue cycle operations, including HIM and Patient Financial Services Monitor key performance indicators including A/R days, denial rates, DNFB, DNFC, medical necessity issues, recoupments, charge reconciliation, accuracy, and late charges Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reimbursement, and overall revenue cycle performance Review and resolve accounts on hold or in DNFB status, partnering with appropriate leaders to address documentation and claim-edit issues Maintain provider enrollment with necessary payers and coordinate enrollment for new providers and long-term locums Chair the Revenue Cycle Action Team (RCAT) and Denial Committee and lead performance improvement initiatives Partner with Accounting on revenue cycle reporting, reconciliation, year-end audit preparation, and Medicare Cost Report information Review and approve Sliding Fee Applications Build strong, collaborative relationships with department leaders, staff, providers, and patients
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field Minimum of three years of supervisory experience In-depth understanding of hospital revenue cycle operations Knowledge of reimbursement, billing requirements, industry benchmarks, and revenue cycle performance metrics Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills Ability to identify operational challenges and translate data into meaningful process improvements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field Minimum of three years of supervisory experience In-depth understanding of hospital revenue cycle operations Knowledge of reimbursement, billing requirements, industry benchmarks, and revenue cycle performance metrics Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills Ability to identify operational challenges and translate data into meaningful process improvements This is an opportunity to bring your revenue cycle expertise to a collaborative hospital environment where your leadership can have a direct impact on both organizational performance and the community we serve.
