Finance Manager

Job Description

We're looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to work within the trucking and freight brokerage industry, who is comfortable operating at both the leadership level and in the day-to-day details of accounting. This is not a role for someone who only delegates work and reviews reports prepared by others. The Finance Manager will be expected to personally prepare financial reports, analyze financial performance, identify issues, and present meaningful insights and recommendations to ownership. No accounting task should be considered "below" this position. When the accounting team needs support, we expect the Finance Manager to be willing to step in, whether that means resolving an accounts receivable issue, reviewing an accounts payable discrepancy, reconciling an account, assisting with collections, reviewing financial statements, or investigating why the numbers do not match. This position will also play a key leadership and project management role, leading and guiding the accounting team while overseeing key financial and operational projects from planning through execution. The Finance Manager will be expected to establish priorities, coordinate with different departments, monitor progress, and ensure projects are completed accurately and on time. We're also looking for someone who is highly comfortable with technology and interested in using modern tools, including AI applications. The ideal candidate will actively look for ways to automate repetitive tasks, improve reporting, analyze data more effectively, and build better processes rather than simply relying on the way things have always been done.

Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience. Strong understanding of AP, AR, collections, reconciliations, financial statements, and general accounting Demonstrated ability to lead, guide, and develop a team Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to personally prepare financial reports and analyze financial data Highly comfortable with technology Willing and excited to use AI and automation tools as part of everyday work Ability to identify inefficient processes and develop better solutions Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Comfortable working directly with ownership Willing to step in and assist the accounting team wherever needed Self-motivated and able to work independently without constant direction High level of accuracy, integrity, and accountability CPA or CMA is a plus, but not required This is a full-time, on-site position.
