MEDICAL BILLING & REVENUE CYCLE MANAGER

Job Description

Job Summary We are a large, growing podiatric medicine and surgery group with nine locations and 20 physicians serving Long Island and Queens. We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Manager to lead our billing department and improve the financial performance of our multisite practice. This is a hands-on management position. The person hired will supervise and support our billing team while also personally performing billing, resolving denials, correcting rejected claims, submitting appeals, and following up on outstanding accounts. We are looking for more than an experienced medical biller. We need a confident leader who can establish expectations, manage different personalities, improve department performance, and hold team members accountable for results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, supervise, train, and support the medical billing team Establish clear responsibilities, productivity standards, and accountability Perform hands-on medical billing and claims follow-up Investigate, correct, resubmit, and appeal denied or rejected claims Follow up with insurance carriers regarding outstanding, delayed, and underpaid claims Identify the causes of recurring denials and implement corrective actions Oversee claim submission, payment posting, adjustments, rejections, and patient balances Monitor accounts receivable and ensure consistent, timely follow-up Improve collections and reduce aging accounts receivable Monitor key revenue-cycle performance indicators and report results to practice leadership Work with providers and clinical staff to resolve documentation and coding issues Conduct billing-team meetings and individual performance reviews Improve billing workflows, systems, and written procedures Ensure compliance with applicable billing, coding, and documentation requirements
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
The Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Manager will be responsible for monitoring and improving: Days in accounts receivable Accounts receivable over 90 and 120 days Clean-claim rate Denial and rejection rates Denial-resolution turnaround time Charge-entry and claim-submission timeliness Payment-posting accuracy Net collection rate Outstanding claim follow-up Individual biller productivity and accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three years of hands-on medical billing and revenue-cycle experience required Experience resolving denials, correcting rejected claims, submitting appeals, and following up with insurance carriers required Previous experience supervising, training, or leading a billing team strongly preferred Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding, payment posting, denials, rejections, and accounts-receivable management Demonstrated ability to lead employees, manage conflict, and hold team members accountable Ability to analyze billing reports and identify revenue-cycle problems Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced multisite practice Podiatry billing and coding experience preferred but not required Modernizing Medicine/ModMed experience preferred but not required Reliable transportation required Ability to work full-time and in person in Woodbury, New York
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You are an experienced medical biller who is ready to take ownership of a billing department. You are equally comfortable leading a team and working directly on claims, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable. You know how to set expectations, measure performance, address problems professionally, and hold people accountable. When revenue is delayed or claims are denied, you investigate the cause, resolve the immediate issue, and put systems in place to prevent the problem from continuing.

$75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
