Job Description

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
The Plant Cost Analyst reports to the Avery Plant Controller. The position will ensure financial integrity, support operational decision-making, and drive profitability improvements. This role is responsible for plant accounting activities, cost analysis, budgeting, inventory controls, month-end close processes, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate combines strong manufacturing accounting expertise with analytical, communication, and business partnering skills. Key Responsibilities Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory verification, and financial analysis. Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, variances, and operational performance to identify improvement opportunities. Partner with plant leadership to provide financial insights for sourcing, pricing, capital investments, and strategic planning. Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes. Prepare standard costing analyses and maintain product cost data. Monitor and report on cost reduction initiatives and operational efficiencies. Oversee inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory processes. Support internal controls, audit activities, and compliance with company policies and GAAP standards. Develop financial reports, dashboards, presentations, and ad hoc analyses using Excel, Power BI, and other business reporting tools. Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance plant profitability and operational effectiveness.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 4 years of progressive cost accounting or financial analysis experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, management accounting, and GAAP. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, reporting systems, and financial analysis tools. Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate across functional teams. Project management experience and a continuous improvement mindset preferred. Ability to travel up to 10%
