General Accounting Manager Location:
Brownsville, Texas /
Rio Grande Valley Company Size:
Mid-sized company with approximately $25 million in annual revenue We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented General Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in inventory accounting, experience managing inventory-intensive with multiple SKUs, and preparation of accurate and timely financial statements. Key Responsibilities Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and reconciliations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes. Maintain accurate inventory accounting records and reconciliations. Support inventory control activities including cycle counts, physical inventories, and variance analysis. Monitor cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, and inventory adjustments. Ensure accurate accounting for businesses with a high volume of SKUs and inventory transactions. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes. Support external auditors, tax preparers, and regulatory reporting requirements. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Supervise and mentor accounting staff while promoting continuous improvement within the department. Collaborate with operations, purchasing, and sales teams to improve reporting accuracy and business performance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager. Strong experience with inventory accounting and businesses managing multiple SKUs. Experience in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or inventory-intensive environments preferred. Demonstrated experience preparing and analyzing financial statements. Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting. Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership abilities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory responsibilities. Strong experience with inventory accounting and multi-SKU environments. Demonstrated experience preparing and analyzing financial statements. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls. Experience with QB/ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Attributes Hands-on and detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership. Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operations teams.
