The Department of Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is hiring two Financial Specialist - Seniors, one in the Southwest area (WDA 11), headquartered in Janesville, and one in the Western area (WDA 9), headquartered in either LaCrosse or Viroqua. DVR maintains 11 Workforce Development Areas (WDAs) across the state where teams of DVR staff work together to assist Wisconsin residents with disabilities with their job search efforts. Position Summary These positions are responsible for financial and recordkeeping work for the Division using established accounting and documentation procedures. These positions are accountable for ensuring that vocational services are rendered as intended, timely, and that purchase orders, payments, and invoices are processed appropriately. These positions operate within a collaborative team environment and have both fiscal and non-fiscal responsibilities. A key aspect of the role is supporting team members in project management and service coordination. For more information, see the position description. Salary Information Starting pay is $29.28 per hour, plus an exemplary benefits package: Generous paid time off, including at least 3 1/2 weeks of vacation/personal time, nine paid holidays, and ample sick time that rolls over each year with no cap. The classification title for these positions is Financial Specialist - Senior (schedule 02, range 13). A 12-month probationary period will be required. These positions are not represented in a collective bargaining unit and is considered non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

Job Details Travel:

These positions travel within their region and occasionally to other areas of the state. Travel rarely involves an overnight stay.

Remote work:

These positions are eligible to work a hybrid-remote schedule, after an initial training period. The amount of remote work will be discussed during the interview stage. Employees with approved remote and hybrid-remote work arrangements are generally expected to work within the state of Wisconsin. High-speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work. Remote work options are subject to change. Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e. a US citizen or national or a lawful permanent resident) at the time of appointment. DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant completing the I-9 upon hire. Qualifications Qualifications marked with an asterisk (

You need to have the following experience: Explaining technical information such as processes, step-by-step procedures, policies, regulations, laws, etc. Using computer software for business and/or financial purposes (e.g., Outlook, Sharepoint, case management software such as IRIS, financial software such as PeopleSoft, Quickbooks, etc.) Processing financial documents/transactions (e.g., invoices, purchase orders, etc.) in compliance with state, federal, and/or organizational guidelines (e.g., statutes, policies, fund use directives, etc.) Communicating and relating interpersonally with others to maintain effective working relationships Any of the following experience would be nice to have : Working (paid or unpaid) with persons with disabilities, related education, and/or meeting any of these qualifications in a human service setting (e.g., employment services, etc.) Providing case management services, including coordinating services with multiple entities Providing customer service in a hybrid work environment (e.g. working with stakeholders, vendors, clients, etc. to obtain/provide information, coordinate services, etc.)
