Business Banking Relationship Manager Location:
Lubbock, Texas | In-office / market-based Opportunity Overview A well-capitalized regional banking organization is adding an experienced Business Banking Relationship Manager in Lubbock. This opportunity is designed for a commercially minded banker who wants to combine an existing portfolio with meaningful new-business development. The successful candidate will serve privately held businesses while actively developing new lending, deposit and treasury relationships throughout the Lubbock market. The role is particularly attractive for a banker who enjoys hunting, values disciplined credit, and wants a platform capable of supporting and executing sophisticated commercial relationships. What Makes This Opportunity Different Existing client portfolio combined with significant business-development opportunity Uncapped production-based incentive compensation Quarterly incentive opportunity plus annual performance compensation Strong credit, underwriting and portfolio-management support Meaningful ability to execute appropriate transactions Broad commercial lending and treasury capabilities Local relationship-banking environment supported by larger institutional resources Clear production expectations and performance accountability Opportunity to build a meaningful long-term presence in the Lubbock business community Responsibilities Develop new commercial relationships through direct prospecting, client referrals and centers of influence Manage and expand an existing portfolio of business-banking clients Originate commercial loans, deposits and treasury-management relationships Serve as the primary banking advisor to privately held businesses Understand client cash flow, profitability, working-capital needs and strategic objectives Structure and negotiate commercial credit facilities Partner with underwriting and portfolio-management resources through the credit process Manage portfolio credit quality and identify emerging risks Review financial statements, collateral, covenant compliance and relationship performance Coordinate treasury and other financial solutions across the organization Develop meaningful relationships with attorneys, CPAs and other community referral sources Maintain disciplined pipeline and CRM activity Participate actively in the Lubbock business community Ideal Candidate Profile 3+ years of business or commercial banking experience preferred Demonstrated record of new-business development Established Lubbock or surrounding-market relationships strongly preferred Strong understanding of commercial lending and credit Experience analyzing business financial statements and cash flow Ability to structure term loans, revolving facilities and commercial real estate transactions Experience generating deposits and treasury relationships in addition to loans Comfortable balancing portfolio management with significant prospecting expectations Formal credit training is highly valued Experience within a regional, national or sophisticated commercial banking platform is attractive Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience Finance, accounting or related education preferred Preferred Business Characteristics The successful candidate will typically have experience serving privately held companies with annual revenues generally below approximately $20MM. Experience originating commercial credit relationships up to approximately $5MM is particularly relevant. Candidates should demonstrate balanced relationship development across: Commercial loans Operating deposits Treasury-management services Commercial real estate Revolving credit facilities Term financing Not a Fit If You Primarily want to manage an existing portfolio without developing new business Depend on inbound leads for the majority of your production Are uncomfortable with measurable production expectations Prefer lending without developing broader deposit and treasury relationships Lack fundamental commercial credit and financial-analysis skills Do not want to actively prospect and build COI relationships Prefer an environment without structured credit processes or accountability Intend to cover Lubbock only occasionally from another distant market Compensation Competitive base compensation is paired with a production-driven incentive structure designed to reward successful relationship development. Variable compensation is uncapped, with quarterly incentive opportunities and additional annual performance compensation based on achievement of balanced production objectives. For experienced producers, transition economics may be structured based on current compensation, production history and the circumstances surrounding a move. Final compensation will depend on experience, demonstrated production, market relationships and overall fit.
