Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Patient Financial Services/Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will serve as a key liaison between patients, insurance providers, and healthcare staff to ensure smooth financial processes and timely authorization for medical services. Your expertise will help facilitate accurate insurance verification, manage prior authorization requests, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance. Duties Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other tools Obtain prior authorization from insurance companies for diagnostic tests, procedures, or treatments in accordance with health insurance policies Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies during all patient interactions and data handling Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to accurately document diagnoses and procedures for billing purposes Manage medical records and electronic health records (EHR) to support authorization requests and billing processes Communicate effectively with managed care organizations to expedite approvals and resolve coverage issues Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients with questions related to their insurance benefits and authorization status Experience Prior experience in medical office administration or healthcare billing preferred Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance verification procedures Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding (CPT, ICD), and medical billing practices Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication purposes Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms preferred Understanding of clinical confidentiality policies including HIPAA compliance Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and authorization documentation Join our team at HCHC to make a meaningful impact on patient care by ensuring seamless financial services support.
