On-Site Position Summary:
The Workers' Compensation Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and evaluating Workers' Compensation risks and submissions while driving strategic growth of Dynamic's Workers' Compensation book. This role identifies, pursues, and establishes new Workers' Compensation carrier relationships and appointments, leveraging established industry relationships to expand Dynamic's market presence. The Workers' Compensation Underwriter also helps develop underwriting guidelines, appetite, and processes for the line of business, and partners closely with Dynamic's technology/development team to build and improve underwriting tools and automation, including participation in UAT and testing of new system features. This position balances underwriting discipline with a strategic, growth-oriented approach to support the continued expansion of Dynamic's Workers' Compensation program. Essential Duties /
Responsibilities:
Identify, pursue, and establish new Workers' Compensation carrier relationships and appointments. Leverage existing industry relationships to expand Dynamic's Workers' Compensation market presence. Underwrite and evaluate Workers' Compensation risks and submissions in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements. Help develop underwriting guidelines, appetite, and processes for the Workers' Compensation line of business. Partner closely with Dynamic's technology/development team to build and improve underwriting tools and automation. Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and testing of new system features and functionality. Provide underwriting expertise and feedback to ensure technology solutions meet business and underwriting needs. Identify opportunities to grow the Workers' Compensation book while maintaining underwriting discipline. Communicate with carriers, agents, and internal teams regarding submission requirements, underwriting decisions, and program status. Maintain accurate and complete underwriting files and data within policy and underwriting systems. Monitor Workers' Compensation underwriting guidelines, carrier updates, and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
Knowledge / Skills
/ Abilities (KSA's): Workers' Compensation Underwriting Knowledge — Strong understanding of WC underwriting principles, risk selection, pricing, coverages, and documentation requirements. Carrier Relationship Development — Ability to identify, pursue, and cultivate new carrier relationships and appointments. Market & Industry Network — Established relationships across the Workers' Compensation industry that support new business development. Risk Analysis — Ability to evaluate Workers' Compensation risk characteristics and apply sound underwriting judgment to selection and pricing decisions. Strategic & Growth Orientation — Identifies opportunities to grow the Workers' Compensation book while maintaining underwriting discipline. Technology Collaboration — Comfortable working alongside development teams to build, test, and refine underwriting tools and automation. Attention to Detail — Demonstrates accuracy and consistency in underwriting review, documentation, and data entry. Compliance Awareness — Understands the importance of following underwriting guidelines, carrier requirements, and regulatory standards. Communication Skills — Communicates clearly and professionally with carriers, agents, and internal teams. Written Communication — Prepares clear underwriting notes, file documentation, and correspondence. Organizational Skills — Manages multiple submissions, relationships, and initiatives in a fast-paced environment. Team Collaboration — Works effectively with Underwriting, Technology, Service, and Operations teams. Professionalism & Ethics — Maintains confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity in all underwriting activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
5+ years of Workers' Compensation underwriting experience Established carrier and industry relationships within the Workers' Compensation market Proven ability to develop new market and carrier opportunities Strong understanding of Workers' Compensation underwriting, risk selection, and pricing Tech-forward, with experience working alongside technology/development teams Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills Authorized to work in the
United States Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience Prior experience in an MGA or specialty insurance setting Professional designations (e.g., AU, CPCU) or progress toward completion Demonstrated success developing new carrier appointments or entering new markets
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Continually required to sit for extended periods Moderate to high noise level consistent with a busy office environment On-site position Office-based with standard business hours Travel required for carrier meetings, industry events, and conferences to support relationship development
