Job Description

About Altura Financial Group Altura Financial Group is an independent insurance agency focused on helping individuals, families, and business owners protect what matters most through personalized life insurance solutions.
Our philosophy is simple:
we prioritize the mission over the commission. We believe long-term success in life insurance comes from understanding the client, providing appropriate solutions, and building relationships that extend beyond the initial sale. As Altura Financial Group continues to grow, we are looking for experienced life insurance professionals who want the independence to build their own book of business while having a structured opportunity for continued professional growth and advancement. The Opportunity We are seeking experienced, licensed Life Insurance Agents who already understand the fundamentals of building and managing a life insurance business. This is a 1099 independent contractor, commission-based opportunity with a flexible, self-managed schedule. There is no guaranteed salary or hourly wage. This position is designed for agents who already have experience prospecting, conducting client appointments, presenting insurance solutions, submitting applications, and managing their pipeline. We are looking for professionals who are ready to produce, grow, and take greater ownership of their insurance career. What You'll Do As an experienced Altura Financial Group agent, you will: Develop and manage your own pipeline of prospective clients. Work with individuals, families, and business owners to identify their protection needs. Educate clients and recommend appropriate life insurance solutions based on their needs, goals, and budget. Conduct appointments virtually, by phone, and in person when appropriate. Generate new business through prospecting, referrals, networking, community involvement, and approved marketing strategies. Build and maintain long-term client relationships. Manage applications from submission through underwriting and policy placement. Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects, clients, and pending business. Maintain applicable licensing, carrier appointments, and compliance requirements. Continue developing product knowledge and professional skills. Work toward individual production and professional advancement goals. Pursue mentorship and leadership opportunities if that aligns with your career goals. What We're Looking For We're looking for more than someone who holds an insurance license. We're looking for experienced professionals who understand that consistent production comes from consistent activity.
Strong candidates are:
Self-directed — You can manage your schedule, pipeline, prospecting, appointments, and follow-up without constant supervision. Production-focused — You understand how consistent prospecting and relationship development translate into appointments, applications, and placed business. Client-focused — You recommend coverage based on the client's circumstances, needs, and budget. Entrepreneurial — You want to build a book of business and professional network rather than simply complete assigned tasks. Growth-oriented — You want to increase your production, continue developing professionally, and potentially take on greater responsibility. Professional and ethical — You understand the responsibility involved in helping families and businesses make important financial protection decisions.
Qualifications Required:
Active Life Insurance Producer License. Previous life insurance sales experience. Experience conducting life insurance client appointments. Understanding of insurance applications and the underwriting process. Ability and willingness to prospect and independently generate business. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to independently manage a sales pipeline and schedule. Ability to satisfy applicable carrier contracting and appointment requirements. Reliable access to a computer, phone, and internet connection.
Preferred:
One or more years of life insurance sales experience. Demonstrated history of consistent insurance production. Experience with multiple life insurance product types. Experience serving individuals, families, or business owners. Experience developing professional referral relationships. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills. Established professional or community network. Previous mentorship, management, or sales-leadership experience. Interest in future agency leadership. Compensation & Advancement This is a commission-based 1099 independent contractor opportunity. There is no guaranteed salary or hourly wage. Actual earnings vary based on individual production, placed business, product mix, carrier compensation, persistency, and other applicable factors. Experienced agents may be considered for compensation and advancement opportunities based on their experience, qualifications, and demonstrated production. Altura Financial Group maintains a structured advancement system designed to recognize production, consistency, professional development, and leadership. Specific compensation structures, contracting details, production expectations, and advancement requirements will be discussed during the interview process. What Altura Offers Experienced agents have the opportunity to: Build and develop their own book of business. Work with multiple life insurance solutions. Serve individual, family, and business markets. Maintain flexibility over their schedule and business activity. Develop professional and referral relationships. Access product education and professional development resources. Continue developing their sales and business-building skills. Advance based on production and established qualification requirements. Pursue mentorship and leadership opportunities as the organization grows. Build Your Production. Choose Your Path. Not every successful insurance professional wants to build a team—and at Altura, they don't have to. Agents can focus on developing personal production and their own book of business without being required to recruit other agents. For professionals interested in leadership, qualified agents may have opportunities to mentor and develop other insurance professionals as Altura grows. Leadership opportunities are earned through established production, qualification, and professional standards. Recruiting alone does not determine advancement. Our goal is to give experienced agents room to build the career path that aligns with their professional goals.
