The Commercial Lending Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for the business' lending operations. This role is responsible for driving commercial loan growth, managing portfolio performance, supporting risk management efforts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will combine strong commercial credit expertise with relationship-building skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to business members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the commercial lending function, overseeing loan origination, underwriting, approval, closing, servicing, and portfolio administration. Develop and grow business banking relationships through networking, community involvement, and strategic business development efforts. Analyze commercial credit requests, including financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral, to support sound lending decisions. Monitor portfolio performance, identify and mitigate credit risk, and manage problem loan resolution efforts when necessary. Ensure compliance with credit union policies, NCUA regulations, and other applicable lending and regulatory requirements. Present loan recommendations to management, loan committees, and the Board of Directors. Partner with branch leadership, credit analysts, and third-party lending partners to support portfolio growth and operational efficiency. Provide coaching, training, and subject matter expertise on commercial lending products, sales strategies, and business development initiatives. Maintain strong knowledge of commercial lending products, documentation procedures, risk management practices, and credit union systems. Support special projects and contribute to the overall strategic growth of the credit union's commercial lending program. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Five or more years of experience in commercial lending, commercial banking, or commercial credit analysis. Prior leadership or supervisory experience required. Demonstrated ability to analyze business financial information and make sound credit decisions. Proven success developing commercial relationships and expanding loan portfolios. Experience working with business owners and community organizations preferred. Existing network of commercial clients and referral sources is a plus. Credit union or community banking experience highly desirable.
