This role ensures the safety and soundness of the loan portfolio by tracking credit quality, monitoring risk trends, supporting loan officers with credit analysis, and working directly with customers to maintain strong relationships. The Portfolio Manager also assists with loan documentation, compliance monitoring, and account servicing as needed. Responsibilities Monitor the performance of assigned commercial, consumer, and real estate loans. Track loan covenant compliance, maturity dates, past dues, and exceptions; escalate concerns promptly. Perform periodic portfolio reviews and prepare reports for management and the Board Loan Committee. Identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and recommend corrective action. Oversee and monitor the loan documentation process to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to approved credit terms. Work with Quality Control, Compliance and Loan Operations Supervisor to ensure efficiency and adherence to all internal and external policies and regulations. Develop new strategies to become more efficient and accurate. Assist with loan portfolio analysis, risk rating validation and credit file maintenance. Support Credit Underwriting with Annual Review processes by gathering financial statements and credit information to analyze loan relationships. Assist loan officers with spreading financial statements, cash flow analysis, and risk rating assignments. Participate in initial underwriting of renewals, modifications, and new loan requests within established authority. Maintain accurate credit files and ensure compliance with bank policy, regulatory guidelines, and loan agreements. Complete all requirements of loan bookings, to include preparation, review, documentation, and filling. Assist in resolving credit problems, delinquent payment issues, and other related issues. Review current account status, including but not limited to, past due accounts and notes matured and make appropriate recommendations for these accounts. Monitor portfolio loan exposure including review of monthly maturity reports, daily overdraft activity reports, and weekly past due reports and make recommendations for these accounts. Prepare lending activity reports for management as needed. Performs credit inquiries for the financial institution as requested. Provides technical advice and assistance to loan officers throughout the Bank as needed. Assist with Training and Scheduling within the department. Assist with scheduling Internal/External Exams and collection of documentation for review. Support relationship managers by serving as a point of contact for borrowers on routine questions and requests. Prepare loan review materials, annual reviews, and borrower updates to maintain accurate borrower risk profiles. Build strong working relationships with customers to support retention and growth. Ensure adherence to bank credit and/or lending policies, FDIC, and state banking regulations. Prepare portfolio management reports for management, auditors, and examiners. Maintain accurate risk ratings, collateral documentation, and loan system data. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field. (or equivalent Banking experience). 3+ years of experience in lending, credit analysis or loan review in a community bank or financial institution.
