Commercial Lender Our client, a growing community bank, is seeking an experienced Commercial Lender to develop and manage commercial banking relationships within the bank's market. The Commercial Lender will be responsible for generating new business, originating and structuring commercial loans, managing an existing loan portfolio, and providing comprehensive financial solutions to business clients. This position is highly relationship-driven and requires someone who can build strong relationships with business owners and executives while maintaining sound credit and risk management practices. Key Responsibilities Develop and grow commercial banking relationships with existing and prospective business clients. Generate new loan and deposit opportunities through direct prospecting, referrals, networking, and community involvement. Originate, structure, negotiate, and close commercial loans, including: Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loans Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loans Lines of credit Term loans Acquisition and expansion financing Owner-occupied real estate financing Analyze borrower financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, balance sheets, income statements, and other financial information. Assess creditworthiness, repayment capacity, collateral, guarantor strength, and overall credit risk. Prepare detailed loan presentations and credit recommendations for approval. Manage and monitor an assigned commercial loan portfolio while maintaining appropriate asset quality. Monitor borrower performance, financial covenants, loan maturities, and other credit requirements. Identify potential credit issues and work with Credit Administration to address risk appropriately. Partner with Credit Underwriting, Loan Operations, Treasury Management, and other bank departments to deliver solutions to clients. Identify opportunities to cross-sell commercial deposits, treasury management, cash management, and other banking products and services . Maintain strong knowledge of the local business community and identify opportunities for market expansion. Represent the bank at business, civic, and community events. Ensure all lending activities comply with bank policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of commercial banking or commercial lending experience. Proven experience originating and managing commercial loans. Strong understanding of commercial credit analysis and financial statement analysis. Experience with C&I and/or CRE lending. Knowledge of commercial loan structuring, underwriting, collateral analysis, and credit risk management. Demonstrated ability to develop new business and build long-term relationships with commercial clients. Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with credit and bank operations teams. Knowledge of the local commercial banking market and business community preferred.
