Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Loan Officer role based in Yakima, WA. The Loan Officer will support members by evaluating and processing consumer, auto, mortgage, and small business loan applications in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements. Daily responsibilities include meeting with members to understand their financial goals, collecting and verifying documentation, analyzing creditworthiness, and recommending appropriate loan products. The role also involves preparing loan files, communicating application decisions, explaining terms and conditions, and ensuring an excellent member experience through clear, respectful, and proactive communication. The Loan Officer will collaborate with branch staff to meet lending targets, participate in community outreach, and maintain accurate records in the loan origination and core banking systems. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong financial analysis and lending skills, including experience reviewing credit reports, income documentation, debt-to-income ratios, and collateral valuations. Candidates should possess member service and relationship-building skills, including active listening, empathy, and the ability to explain complex financial information in a clear, accessible manner. Candidates should possess sales and business development skills, such as identifying member needs, matching products to goals, and meeting or exceeding loan production and cross-selling objectives. Candidates should possess regulatory and compliance skills, including familiarity with lending regulations, fair lending practices, documentation standards, and internal policies and procedures. Candidates should possess organizational and technology skills, including accurate data entry, time management, and proficiency with loan origination systems, core banking platforms, and standard office software. Relevant qualifications include prior experience as a loan officer, mortgage loan originator, or consumer lending specialist in a credit union or community financial institution. Additional beneficial qualifications include knowledge of the Yakima and broader Puget Sound markets, bilingual language skills, and experience serving diverse or underserved communities. High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate or bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, is preferred.
