Part-Time Payroll Generalist

Job Description

Position Summary The Part-Time Payroll Generalist is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of payroll and related employee payroll functions. This position works closely with employees, management, and the company's Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to ensure accurate payroll processing, proper maintenance of employee records, and compliance with applicable payroll laws and company policies. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable handling confidential employee information and sensitive HR matters. This position requires the ability to manage payroll deadlines, resolve employee questions and concerns, handle HR issues with discretion and professionalism, and work independently while partnering effectively with the PEO and internal team. Essential Responsibilities Payroll Administration Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule. Review and validate employee timecards, attendance records, and payroll adjustments. Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and other employee status updates. Calculate and review wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation as applicable. Review payroll reports and verify payroll accuracy prior to submission and processing. Coordinate with the company's PEO to ensure payroll is processed accurately and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. Coordinate with the PEO regarding payroll-related deductions, garnishments, benefit elections, and other employee payroll adjustments. Respond to employee payroll questions and concerns in a professional and timely manner. Serve as a primary point of contact for employee payroll-related issues and work with the PEO to identify and implement effective resolutions. Monitor payroll deadlines and ensure all required information is submitted to the PEO in a timely manner. Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll and personnel information. Maintain accurate and organized payroll documentation and records. Assist with payroll-related audits, reporting, and reconciliations as needed. Employee and HR Support Assist with payroll-related aspects of new hire onboarding and employee terminations. Ensure employee payroll information is accurately updated when there are changes to compensation, employment status, benefits, or other relevant information. Assist employees with general payroll and payroll-related benefit questions, coordinating with the PEO when necessary. Maintain accurate employee documentation related to payroll and compensation. Handle employee HR issues and concerns with discretion, professionalism, and strict confidentiality, escalating matters to management or the appropriate HR/PEO contact when necessary. Support management with payroll-related reports and information as requested. General Responsibilities Maintain organized and accurate payroll records in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, procedures, and efficiency. Assist with payroll-related projects and administrative tasks as assigned. Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable payroll regulations. Communicate effectively with employees, management, and the company's PEO. Work independently while maintaining consistent communication with the Finance team. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll processing or payroll administration experience. Experience working with a PEO or outsourced payroll provider preferred. Proficiency with payroll software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Excel. Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize workload and consistently meet payroll deadlines. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with limited supervision. Preferred Qualifications Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus. Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, Paycom, or similar platforms. Experience working with a PEO is strongly preferred. Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour requirements. Experience with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and payroll-related recordkeeping. Familiarity with employee benefits and the payroll implications of benefit elections and deductions. Experience handling employee HR questions, concerns, or workplace issues in a professional and confidential manner. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to work in an office environment and meet established payroll deadlines. Travel to stores when needed. Pay:
$35.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 - 25.0 per week
