Accounting Reports to: Controller Heavy Equipment Movers & Installation (HEMI) is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our growing team. This role is responsible for processing accurate weekly payroll, ensuring compliance with multi-state payroll tax regulations, and providing exceptional support to employees. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced construction environment.
Requirements:
4+ years of payroll processing experience, with a strong emphasis on multi-state payroll tax compliance. Experience processing high-volume, weekly payroll in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of federal, state, and unemployment tax regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with Vista Viewpoint (or similar ERP/payroll software) is preferred. Experience with integrated payroll and accounting systems. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently. Construction industry payroll experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for employees across multiple states. Review and audit timesheets prior to payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance. Process direct deposits, payroll adjustments, wage corrections, garnishments, and other payroll deductions. Maintain employee payroll records and ensure all changes are processed accurately and timely. Administer the electronic timekeeping system, including employee setup, timecard monitoring, and payroll data transfers. Prepare, reconcile, and file federal, state, and unemployment payroll tax returns. Setup new withholding and unemployment tax accounts with states. Process year-end payroll activities, including W-2 and W-3 reporting. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies while providing exceptional customer service to employees. Generate payroll reports and provide payroll-related information to management as needed. Coordinate with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure accurate employee data and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Stay current on payroll laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Maintain employee benefit deductions, process enrollments, life events, terminations, ensure payroll deductions are accurate and up to date. Please provide salary expectations with resume.
