Part Time Payroll Clerk/Administrative AssistantWhy Join Us? This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an important public-facing office while gaining valuable municipal government experience. You will work alongside an experienced team, strengthen your payroll and administrative skills, and play a meaningful role in keeping essential departmental functions running smoothly. While this position is initially temporary, there may be potential for a longer-term opportunity depending on future staffing needs. We are seeking a dependable and professional Payroll Clerk/Administrative Assistant for an immediate temporary opening supporting a busy Treasurer/Collector's Office. This position is approximately 27 hours per week and offers some scheduling flexibility. The ideal candidate will have payroll or administrative experience, strong Excel skills, and excellent attention to detail. Because this position regularly interacts with the public, candidates must be confident communicators who can remain calm and professional when handling questions or challenging situations. Thursday:
9:00 AM to 3:00
PM Friday:
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Approximately 27 hours per week with some flexibility Compensation Pay is based on experience. How you will contribute Provide administrative support to the Treasurer/Collector's Office Assist with payroll processing and related documentation Enter, review, and maintain accurate employee and financial information Use Microsoft Excel to organize, track, and reconcile information Accept and accurately process cash and check payments Maintain organized records and confidential documentation Assist members of the public in person and over the phone Respond professionally to questions and help de-escalate challenging interactions Support daily departmental operations and additional administrative projects as needed What we need from you Previous payroll, accounting, financial, or administrative experience Strong Microsoft Excel skills Experience handling cash and checks Excellent customer service and communication skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Professional, dependable, and polished demeanor Ability to handle confidential information appropriately Comfort interacting with the public and professionally resolving difficult situations Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy office environment Associate's degree preferred but not required Municipal or government experience preferred but not required Experience with Harpers Payroll is a plus Additional Notes This is an immediate opening.
