Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree, preferred in accounting, business, finance, or related field. Experience in an accounting role in a Michigan school, preferred. Experience with Schools OPEN software, preferred. Effective communication skills. Outstanding organizational skills. Exceptional analytical skills and leadership ability. Ability to meet deadlines as requested by administrative personnel. Ability to use independent judgment, flexibility and work with little supervision, and make decisions in accordance with District policies and procedures. Ability to work in a team environment. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Ability to handle confidential information and knowledge of the privacy act. Positive attitude and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with the public, staff, peers, area school personnel and other agencies. Must be willing to adapt to new procedures and computer capabilities as they occur.
Responsibilities:
Maintains payroll operations as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Maintains a working knowledge of all accounting areas of operation within the Business Services department. Balances various accounting procedures. Utilizes Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, and SchoolsOPEN software to enter and receive information such as financial and/or personnel data. Designs and develops computerized reports, spreadsheets and presentations. Develops and distributes complex financial reports. Verifies financial information for accuracy. Assists constituent district personnel with the preparation of payroll data, financial data and statistical reports, as requested by the supervisor. Works as a team member to analyze and solve complex accounting transactions. Assists constituent school district staff in the analysis of accounting, payroll, and finance procedures through the user group relationships. Works with constituent district personnel to provide assistance for the accurate completion of payroll and other related reports. Serves in an active role in SchoolsOPEN user groups. Provides business/management technical assistance to the local districts. Administer employee benefits Perform other duties as assigned.
