SUMMARY:
The Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry (JIB) was established in 1943 by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union No. 3 and employers affiliated with the National Electrical Contractors Association. Its mission is to promote harmony between employees and employers, administer benefits for members and their families and improve competitiveness through progressive management, education, training, and technology. Under general supervision, the Benefits Contribution Processor will report to the Supervisor and work closely with various internal and external stakeholders and be responsible for various duties, including but not limited to: Process employer payroll contributions. Review contributions submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Investigate and resolve contribution discrepancies and some reporting errors. Provide support to contractors by addressing questions, concerns, and payment-related issues. Collaborate with Legal, Accounting, and Benefits Administration to ensure accurate payroll contributions. Process the Job Targeting Fund for payroll. Scanning documents as needed. Setting up new members' information/updating members promotions, status, and rate changes. Review and evaluate eligibility for benefits programs for the Electrical Industry, including but not limited to Medical, Dental, Prescription, Optical, G-Benefit, and Legal. Serve as back-up in some areas of the department. Update eligibility information in the system. Input, verify, and maintain data in spreadsheets, and other data management tools. Support internal and external stakeholders by addressing requests, resolving issues, and providing customer service both telephonically and in person. Performs other duties and special assignments as deemed necessary. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office - Customer Service Center environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop computers, phone, headset, scanner, printer, keyboard, photocopiers, shredder, and fax. Physical Demands Sedentary work environment with physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. This would require the ability to lift files, pull files/forms/books, stand, bending, shred documents, open/close filing cabinets as necessary. Work involves exerting up to 35 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a Temporary, onsite 35 hours per week- Non-Exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30AM-4:30PM.
Flexibility:
Must be able to work overtime when necessary. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Some college preferred or any similar combination of education and experience. Union benefits experience preferred. 1-2 years of experience as a payroll bookkeeper desired. Strong knowledge of payroll processing, reconciliation, and compliance, with the ability to review payroll submissions, resolve discrepancies, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent PC skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Outlook) and Internet to research information. Proficient Excel skills required. Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with high volume phone calls and maintain confidentiality of all information. Exhibit superior customer service and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Able to handle multiple tasks with capability of prioritizing and planning work activities. Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness with ability to improve and promote quality. Possess ability to work cross-function to resolve complex issues with high degree of professionalism.
