The Plastek Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist for the Corporate division located in Erie, PA. The candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees. This position requires a strong understanding of payroll processing principles, timekeeping systems, Human Resources processes, and accounting functions. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with Human Resources and Finance to ensure payroll information is accurate, compliant, and processed according to established company procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Process biweekly payroll accurately and timely for hourly, salaried, exempt and non-exempt employees in a manufacturing environment. Apply knowledge of payroll processing principles, including regular wages, overtime, taxes, benefits, voluntary deductions, garnishments, adjustments, and other withholdings. Review and validate timekeeping data in UKG, including employee time entry, attendance, overtime, PTO, and supervisor approvals. Maintain accurate employee payroll and HR information within the HRIS/payroll systems. Assist with the administration, tracking and payment of disability and medical leave payments, ensuring appropriate documentation and coordination with applicable internal processes. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, errors, and employee inquiries in a timely manner. Coordinate payroll adjustments, corrections, off-cycle payments, and final paychecks. Maintain records supporting employee benefits and voluntary deductions and work with Accounts Payable in processing all third-party payments. Work collaboratively with Human Resources and Finance on payroll-related matters and special projects such as workers comp audits, 401(k) audits, year-end bonus calculations and year-end financial audit inquiries. Work with ADP to ensure accurate and timely quarter and year-end payroll tax reporting and filings: including W-2 preparation, quarterly and annual payroll tax reconciliations, and setting up new states and localities as needed. Safeguard confidential employee, payroll, and company information. Ensure payroll activities are completed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local labor laws. Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and management reports as required. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• Minimum 2-year degree in Finance or Accounting and/or equivalent experience.

• 3-to-5-year experience in Finance - direct Payroll/HR experience is preferred.

Required Qualifications:
Payroll Experience:

Previous experience in payroll processing, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with strong understanding of payroll principles and practices.

Payroll Taxes:

Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax and labor laws.

Payroll & HR Systems :

Experience with UKG, SAP, or similar timekeeping/payroll systems is preferred.

HRIS & Data Management:

Experience working with HRIS platforms and maintaining accurate employee data through detailed data entry.

Computer Applications:

Experience working with Excel - creating formulas, macros, arrays, pivot tables, and other functions.
