Full Job Description Position Description:
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for processing multi-shift payroll accurately and timely while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong payroll background, experience with Kronos (UKG) timekeeping systems, and the ability to work flexible hours to support payroll deadlines and operational demands. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees with a high degree of accuracy. Review, audit, and reconcile employee time records, attendance, and payroll data using Kronos (UKG). Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, federal and state payroll regulations, and company policies. Calculate and process overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, incentives, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and timekeeping issues in a timely manner. Maintain employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information. Coordinate with Human Resources, Accounting, and Operations departments regarding payroll-related matters. Prepare payroll reports, audits, and supporting documentation as requested by management. Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and payroll reconciliations. Support payroll system testing, upgrades, and process improvements. Participate in internal and external audits related to payroll compliance. Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment. Hands-on experience using Kronos (UKG) timekeeping and workforce management systems. Strong knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, payroll tax requirements, and payroll best practices. Experience processing payroll for a large, multi-shift workforce. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Strong communication and customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred. Experience with payroll software integrations and HRIS systems. Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred. Work Schedule Requirements Must be able to work flexible hours based on business and payroll processing needs. Availability to work weekends, extended hours, and some major holidays as required to meet payroll deadlines and support manufacturing operations. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and strict deadlines. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer. May occasionally be required to walk through manufacturing and production areas.
