Payroll/Accounting Specialist Location:
Vancouver, WA (Onsite)
Pay Range:
$31.00 – $36.00/hour ($65,000 – $75,000 annually) About the Opportunity Our client is a respected organization in the public sector, and is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll/Accounting Specialist to join its finance team. This role offers a diverse mix of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting responsibilities. Collaborative environment with opportunities to contribute to process improvements and financial reporting initiatives Responsibilities Process semi-monthly payroll , review timesheets, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing Manage accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, account coding, vendor maintenance, approvals, and compliance requirements Support accounts receivable activities by preparing invoices, tracking reimbursements, reconciling customer accounts, and maintaining vendor records Record general ledger (GL) journal entries , cash receipts, payroll transactions, and perform account reconciliations Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external agencies Assist with bank reconciliations, deposits, budget-to-actual reporting, and year-end activities including W-2 and 1099 preparation Provide accounting support, customer service, and guidance on financial policies and procedures across departments Qualifications Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, preferred 3+ years of accounting experience in payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting; 5+ years preferred Strong proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, financial reporting, reconciliations, and data accuracy Proven ability to identify discrepancies and maintain confidentiality Strong communication and customer service experience to communicate with team members, vendors, and other external partners.
