Robert Half

Property Tax Consultant

Job Description

We are looking for a Property Tax Consultant to support an early-stage product focused on residential property tax appeal workflows in Florida. This is a Contract position based in Palo Alto, California, offering an independent contractor arrangement with flexible, part-time hours on an as-needed basis. The person in this role will provide practical guidance on appeal procedures, filing rules, and hearing preparation so the product is designed around real-world county practices. This opportunity is ideal for someone with direct hands-on experience who can help shape a legally grounded, operationally effective solution.
Responsibilities:
  • Advise the product team on how Florida residential property tax appeal rules are applied in practice, translating statutory and procedural requirements into usable product guidance.
  • Explain operational differences among high-volume Florida counties, including how local property appraiser offices and value adjustment boards may vary in their processes and expectations.
  • Guide the design of filing workflows by outlining key deadlines, notice timing, required forms, submission methods, and payment-related compliance steps.
  • Help structure hearing preparation features that reflect successful appeal strategies, including evidence timing, comparable property analysis, and property condition arguments.
  • Review customer and backend authorization flows to identify legal or procedural issues before release to production.
  • Spot potential process risks and edge cases by drawing on extensive experience across a large number of residential parcels and appeal scenarios.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to refine filing logic and user pathways so the product aligns with actual appeal practices in Florida.
  • Provide ongoing subject matter insight on petition handling and adjudicative expectations relevant to special magistrate proceedings.
