Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance paid for employee, PERSI Retirement, Sick Leave, Vacation after 1 year, Holiday Pay, and Bereavement Leave SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Assessor, appraises real properties throughout Gem County. Maintains accurate property records and valuation data, provides customer service regarding property assessments, and assists with the annual assessment process in accordance with Idaho law and accepted mass appraisal practices
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Appraises and reappraises real properties by conducting field inspections, measuring improvements, photographing property, verifying property use, communicating with property owners, and entering updated information into the CAMA system Explains and defends property valuations to property owners and may represent the Assessor's Office before the Board of Equalization, Board of Tax Appeals, and District Court. Updates property classifications, assessed values, and property class codes, including property conversions between valuation types. Fields and processes monthly sales and archives appropriate sales annually. Prepares annual sales books prior to the mailing of assessment notices Provides general office support, including answering phones and serving as backup for front desk operations as needed. Maintains Idaho Certified Property Appraiser certification and completes required continuing education. Collaborate with peers to create and update current processes and protocols. Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to: Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing. Perform basic mathematical calculations and apply standard formulas. Use handheld and desk calculators to complete required calculations. Accurately measure structures using standard appraisal tools and equipment. Work effectively with the public, including in potentially stressful situations. Organize work, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Apply Idaho property tax laws, appraisal principles, and county assessment procedures.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
o High School Diploma or equivalent o Valid Idaho Drivers License o Current Idaho Certified Property Appraiser certification, and the ability to maintain certification as required by the Idaho State Tax Commission. o Proficiency with computers and software programs o Ability to accurately calculate figures and maintain detailed records
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in both office and outdoor environments. Employees are required to drive throughout Gem County and may be exposed to varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Requires clear speech and hearing sufficiently to follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by telephone.
