Building Official & Building Coordinator General Responsibilities:
Produce and maintain detailed Building permitting and inspection documents for the Township as required by the Michigan Building Code 2021 and Charter Township of Lyon, Code of Ordinances. Facilitate the resolution of residents', tenants', contractors' and local businesses' construction and property related issues. Function as resource and reference for both internal and external requests for documentation, reports and data.

Salary Range:
$40,000 - $45,000 (Based on Experience) Essential Functions and Responsibilities, as Assigned 1. Produce and maintain detailed Building permitting and inspection documents: The Permitting Analyst must have knowledge of construction processes and sequencing to analyze and ensure the permit application is accurate and complete. That same knowledge is required for the scheduling inspections and assisting in the resolution of failed inspections. Organization skills and the ability to prioritize are critical for the facilitation of the plan review process. Accuracy and attention to detail are required for fee calculation and invoicing. Exceptional customer service skills and work ethic are mandatory. Deliverables include, although not limited to: Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing Permits Schedule Inspections - Input Inspection Results Summarize, Organize and Distribute the Daily Inspection Schedule 2. The Permitting Analyst must facilitate the resolution of construction and property related issues, employing the ability to efficiently and effectively problem solve. Knowledge of construction processes, the ability to effectively communicate both interdepartmentally and external to the organization are a requirement. Exceptional customer service skills and work ethic are mandatory. Examples include but not limited to: Failed Inspection Resolution Expired Permits Resolution Resident and/or Contractor Complaint Resolution 3. Provide resource and reference for both internal and external requests for data, reports, and documentation. Deliverables include but not limited to: Archival documentation Inspection Histories Attend meetings as required 4.
