Job Description

Job Summary The Marshall County Assessor's Office is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Residential/Commercial Appraiser to join our Real Estate Team. In this important role, you will help ensure that residential and commercial property is valued and assessed fairly and accurately for tax purposes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop expertise in various tax disciplines, including maintaining accurate records that support equitable and fair taxation across the county. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys field work, has a strong attention to detail, and wants to serve the public in a stable county government position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Data Collection:
Inspecting residential or commercial buildings, taking photos, and verifying property characteristics like size and condition.
Mass Appraisal:
Utilizing CAMA software and local market data to value entire neighborhoods or jurisdictions for tax distribution.
Public Assistance:
Answering taxpayer inquiries, explaining assessment methodologies, and defending values during appeal seasons.
Record Maintenance:
Updating parcel maps, ownership details, and exemption data in county databases.
Qualifications Education & Training :
High School Diploma/GED required, Bachelors degree preferred but not required.
Skills:
Strong data entry, basic computer literacy, and professional communication for dealing with the public.
Work Experience:
Background experience in real estate, construction or mapping is preferred but not required.
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
